In addition to teaching at Columbia College of Nursing for 15 years, I have experience bringing diverse groups together as coordinator of Milwaukee's Crisis Intervention Team and founder of the Crisis Intervention Partner program. A long-time community activist, I hold or have held leadership positions with a number of dynamic, results-oriented community organizations—all of which gives me expertise I will put to work for you in Madison.

- Assistant Professor at Columbia College of Nursing for 15 years, teaching mental health, community health and ethics
- Coordinator of Milwaukee's Crisis Intervention Team, training over 300 Milwaukee area law enforcement officers
- Founder of the Crisis Intervention Partner program, connecting law enforcement with hospitals, group homes, and other community organizations
- Numerous community service positions, including the Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force; hospital ethics committees; the PTA; and the boards of American Red Cross, Warmline, Inc., Hope House, Advocates for Education, and Whitefish Bay Soccer Club
- Elected for 4 terms as President of the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Greater Milwaukee
